SensNews April 2020

5 Sensor100 2020 The CoronavirusTesting Story During April there was a flurry of activity on Covid-19 tests. Test manufacturers scurried to gain emergency FDA clear- ance for their products, then competed to see who could produce and ship the most tests per week/ month. Gov- ernments, sometimes seemigly reluctantly, recognised the role of testing to help contain the spread of the virus. R(t) became a new im- portant parameter to us. Meanwhile, major sensor research centres launched their own versions of tests for the virus and its antibodies, and chased funding for this new activity. What follows is a fairly random collection of news stories which appeared in April. Sensor100 does not endorse any of the products mentioned. Any copyright infringe- ments are entirely inadvertent and will be removed immediately on notification by the copy- right holder. If you are incensed that we have omitted your own contribu- tion, our apologies; let us know and we will correct it next month. Hopefully by May, what VCs call "the froth" will have subsided from this activity and we will be able to give a more measured view.
