SensNews Sept 2020

Sensor100 September 2020 4 From the Editor... As usual, having left this editorial to the last minute, there is only one news item which dominates - the Presidential election debate on the 29th September. I have spent half my working life in the USA, and am married to a US citizen; the two largest Sensor100 readership countries are the UK and the US. So, it is not surprising that I have an interest in US politics. The approbation which has been poured on the first debate doesn't need repeating here but more worrying than the churlish behav- ior of the currentWhite House occupant is the apparent loss of democ- racy. It is apparently true that the possibility of Trump refusing to accept the election outcome is being taken seriously. A frightening prospect for the world at large. Meanwhile, we have been working hard on Sensors in Medicine 2020. Those of you who merely show up to conferences, virtual or otherwise, have little concept of what is involved in putting them together. Work- ing with speakers, sponsors, exhibitors and students showing posters is in some cases a delight, in other cases not so much. This year we have the added burden of learning how to run the event in virtual space. As my mother used to say, I'm sure it will be all right on the night (or in our case, day) Stay well, Kind regards Michael Brand michael@sensor100.com Sensor People
