5 Sensor100 2020 Professor Molly Stevens Elected Fellow of the Royal Society Molly Stevens is Professor of Biomedical Materials and Regenerative Med- icine in the Departments of Materials and Bioengineering and Research Director for Biomedical Material Sciences at Imperial College London. Her work focuses on ma- terials-based approaches for tissue regen- eration, and the diagnosis, prevention, and tracking of diseases. Professor Stevens recently received funding from the President’s Excellence Fund to accelerate her work in developing a test for COVID-19, and has previously worked to develop inexpensive point-of-care diag- nostics for infectious diseases in developing countries. Founded in1660, the Royal Society is the oldest scientific academy in continuous existence in the world; its Fellows have included Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking. The first female Fellows were not elected until 1945. Molly has been a keynote speaker at several Sensor100 Sensors in Medi- cine conferences, and we look forward to her future contributions as and when the lockdown is lifted.
